Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster, Penn., an early model 1 pocket watch, 18 size, 7 jewels, stem wind and lever set gilt plate movement with lever escapement and cut bimetallic balance in a silveroid, screw back and bezel open face case, the back with engraved locomotive, and roman numeral, single sunk white enamel dial, blued steel morning glory hands, serial #2312, c1895.
CONDITION:
CASE: Shallow dent, back; Minor dings; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Rear cover with burrs from case knife; Engraving with minor wear; Bow loose; Crown worn. DIAL: Hairlines in enamel, light; Spider hairlines. HANDS: Oxidation and bends. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine scratches on plate; Minor spotting; Regulator with specks of oxide; Screws with minor abrasion and loss to blue; Minor losses to gilding. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks). RARITY: This is a two star watch in Gilbert, Engle and Shugart's `Complete Price Guide to Watches`, uncommon, less than 1000 made.
